SOA Tanzania’s Mikoko Yetu Project Named Finalist in Re!Granting Program

We are thrilled to announce that SOA Tanzania’s Mikoko Yetu project has been selected as one of the finalists in the Re!Granting program by the Re-Earth Initiative. This exciting news marks a significant milestone for our organization and underscores the importance of community-driven initiatives in ecosystem restoration and social justice.

The Re!Granting program, initiated by the Re-Earth Initiative, aims to allocate $250,000 in grants to support projects focusing on ecosystem restoration, measures against injustices, and frontline communities. SOA Tanzania’s Mikoko Yetu project caught the attention of the selection committee for its innovative approach to mangrove conservation and community engagement in Bagamoyo, Tanzania.

At SOA Tanzania, we are deeply committed to marine conservation and empowering local communities to become stewards of their coastal ecosystems. The Mikoko Yetu project is a testament to this commitment, with its goal of establishing a locally managed and protected mangrove area in Bagamoyo while restoring 10,000 mangroves. Moreover, the project seeks to raise awareness about climate reality and ocean conservation through comprehensive ocean literacy programs.

The Re!Granting program’s focus on ecosystem restoration and social justice resonates deeply with our mission. We firmly believe that restoring natural ecosystems and addressing social injustices are intrinsically linked, and both are essential for creating a more sustainable and equitable world. Through our participation in the program, we aim to further amplify our impact and contribute to these vital efforts.

As we move forward as a finalist in the Re!Granting program, we are grateful for the opportunity to continue our work towards mangrove conservation and community empowerment in Bagamoyo, Tanzania. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Re-Earth Initiative for their recognition and support, and we look forward to the possibility of receiving funding to advance our Mikoko Yetu project.

Stay tuned for further updates as we embark on this exciting journey with the Re!Granting program. Together, we can make a tangible difference in restoring our ecosystems and promoting social justice for all.
