The ocean is at the heart of life in Tanzania. From fishing and seaweed farming to mangrove forests and seagrass meadows, millions of people depend on healthy marine ecosystems for their daily livelihoods. Yet our ocean is under pressure from climate change, pollution, and overuse.
At the same time, young people are stepping up like never before. They are eager to act, but too often they lack the skills, resources, and opportunities to turn their ideas into real solutions. That is where Our Ocean Bootcamp comes in.
What is Our Ocean Bootcamp?
Since 2021, SOA Tanzania has run four successful Ocean Bootcamps, training 184 young leaders in ocean leadership, climate activism, and solution creation. Through workshops, mentorship, and hands-on projects, fellows have gained the tools they need to speak up for the ocean and lead change in their communities.
The bootcamp is more than just a training program. It is a launchpad for young Tanzanians to become the next generation of ocean leaders and innovators.

Our Ocean Bootcamp 2025: Youth and Ocean Innovation
This November, we are hosting Our Ocean Bootcamp 2025 under the theme Youth and Ocean Innovation.
Our goal is to train and empower 50 more young people with the skills to:
- Develop and pitch innovative ocean solutions.
- Strengthen leadership in ocean conservation and climate action.
- Connect with mentors who will guide them in shaping and running their projects.
- Gain hands-on experience in blue economy opportunities, including our Mangrove Honey Project, which links conservation with sustainable livelihoods.
Through this bootcamp, youth will not only learn why protecting the ocean matters — they will learn how to create and lead the solutions their communities urgently need.
Why We Need Your Support
To make Our Ocean Bootcamp 2025 a success, we are raising USD 5,000 in matching funds. Your donation will directly support training materials, mentorship, and youth-led innovation projects.
By donating, you are investing in Tanzania’s Generation Restoration — young people who are ready to take action for our ocean, but need the right skills and resources to turn their vision into impact.
Together, let’s empower youth. Together, let’s protect our ocean. 🌊💙
