Paid Internship Positions

1. Financial Officer
The Financial Officer plays a crucial role in managing SOA Tanzania’s revenue sources and funds. This position involves handling financial records, preparing budgets, conducting internal audits, and overseeing donations and financial flows.

Roles:

  • Keep records of all financial flows and receipts
  • Prepare annual financial budgets and audited reports
  • Manage donations and payment campaigns
  • Pay staff salaries and office subscriptions
  • Participate in grant-making processes

Qualifications:

  • Background in finance management and fund recordings
  • Experience in handling donations
  • Active SOA Tanzania member

2. Communication Manager
The Communication Manager is responsible for amplifying SOA Tanzania’s voice through creative content, social media, and branding. This role focuses on engaging the public, designing visuals, and managing outreach campaigns.

Roles:

  • Design graphics and content for SOA Tanzania
  • Manage social media accounts and create engaging posts
  • Develop quarterly newsletters and blogs
  • Create videos and reels for outreach

Qualifications:

  • Background in IT and design
  • Experience with tools like Canva, Adobe, and social media regulations
  • Skills in science communication and environmental advocacy
  • Active SOA Tanzania member

3. Human Resource Manager
The Human Resource Manager oversees the well-being of SOA Tanzania’s staff and manages the physical office space. This role involves maintaining organizational processes, ensuring team productivity, and handling official communications.

Roles:

  • Manage SOA Tanzania staff and ensure task completion
  • Maintain office procedures and physical office spaces
  • Keep records of all organizational documents
  • Prepare official letters and conduct in-person meetings when necessary

Qualifications:

  • Background in human resource management or social sciences with knowledge in marine sciences
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills

Volunteering/Internship Opportunities

4. Project and Program Manager (Volunteer)
This position focuses on managing SOA Tanzania’s projects and programs, working closely with different working groups, planning activities, and ensuring smooth implementation.

Roles:

  • Collaborate with working groups for effective project execution
  • Manage SOA Tanzania’s Opportunity map
  • Prepare annual reports for donors and supporters
  • Plan, organize, and oversee project activities

Qualifications:

  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • Background in marine or environmental sciences
  • Active SOA Tanzania member
  • Familiarity with Google workspace tools

5. Policy Officer (Volunteer)
The Policy Officer ensures the implementation and compliance of SOA Tanzania’s policies, regulations, and legal frameworks.

Roles:

  • Ensure policies and regulations are well-formulated and implemented
  • Educate staff on relevant laws and guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Background in law
  • Experience in legal documentation and regulations
  • Active SOA Tanzania member
